Welcome back to The Project Study, our ongoing series where we take you behind the curtain to explore the design details and application techniques behind some of our most-loved projects. This edition brings us to the heart of Cork City, where we had the pleasure of transforming Rachel's brow and lash salon into a calm, radiant oasis using one of our signature lime paint shade.
This project was all about softness, subtle elegance, and creating a space that felt both elevated and welcoming—qualities that reflect Rachel’s refined vision for the iBrow brand.
Let’s take a closer look.
iBrow is a brow & lash salon located in a bustling part of Cork, known for its precision services and chic yet approachable style. The brief was to refresh the interior with a finish that exudes understated luxury while creating a serene backdrop for clients to unwind during treatments.
The space was compact, filled with natural light—an ideal canvas for a textured, light-reflective finish that would bring depth and warmth without overwhelming the senses.
A Calm, Sophisticated Aesthetic: Rachel wanted a finish that would soften the room, flatter natural light, and create a mood of quiet elegance.
Texture with Restraint: The walls needed movement and texture, but nothing too busy or loud—something that felt curated, lived-in, and beautiful from every angle.
A Unique Colour with a Gentle Glow: The colour had to feel fresh but not cold, neutral but with character. Something that spoke to femininity in a refined, unexpected way.
After sampling a range of our lime paint options, Rachel fell in love with Piegu—a faux white with the softest whisper of rosé mastic. There’s a warmth and slight blush to it that brings out the pink undertones in skin, making it a perfect choice for a beauty environment. Piegu’s delicately pigmented, matte finish reflects light in a way that flatters both the architecture and the people in the room.
As with all of our lime paints, Piegu is hand-mixed in small batches and contains natural pigments and minerals, allowing for depth, texture, and natural variation across the walls.
Surface Preparation: The existing walls were in relatively good condition, though previously painted in a cool-tone. We began by priming the surface with a mineral base coat designed to work seamlessly with lime-based products.
First Coat Application: The initial coat of Piegu was applied with broad, sweeping brush strokes to create an organic texture. Lime paint’s living quality means no two brush marks are the same—and that’s the beauty of it.
Second Coat & Layering: A second, more refined layer was added once the first had dried, enhancing depth and allowing for gentle tonal variations. We worked in natural daylight to ensure colour accuracy and let the texture develop gradually, responding to the room’s shifting light.
Final Detailing: Edges, corners, and high-contact areas were given extra attention to ensure durability and a refined finish. The end result was a softly textured, breathable wall surface that looked like it had always belonged.
Natural Light Reflection: Lime paint behaves very differently under different lighting conditions. Achieving a consistent feel throughout the day required careful monitoring of how the colour played with both direct sunlight and softer indoor lighting.
Achieving Subtlety: It’s easy to overwork lime paint and lose its natural elegance. The goal here was restraint—letting the texture speak gently without becoming a feature wall in the traditional sense.
The transformation was instant. The Piegu lime paint gave the salon a soft, timeless glow that elevated the space without overwhelming it. The blush undertone plays beautifully with the salon’s furnishings—warm woods, soft golds, creamy accents—creating a palette that feels cohesive, calm, and beautifully feminine.
Aesthetic Harmony: Piegu’s delicate, powdery finish brought both texture and calm to the salon. Its understated rosé undertone felt intentional and elevated without being showy. Natural Elegance: The breathable, mineral-rich surface allows the building to “live and breathe,” adding to the feeling of softness and authenticity in the space. Timeless Appeal: Lime paint ages beautifully, and Piegu will only continue to develop character with time—making it a truly sustainable and enduring choice.
“Working with Anna and her team was incredible. She doesn’t think about the job in isolation, she really takes the whole space in mind and offers opinions on what she thinks will work but always with your best interests in mind. Our project was a little more difficult and she took it in her stride. She’s a very creative person and really wants the client to love the result. This being a commercial project, she happily worked around our schedule to prevent closing for too long which I really appreciated.” Rachel
